Casa de la Esperanza is a resource center located steps from the port of entry in Sasabe, Sonora that provides aid and refuge to migrants passing through. The center was established with the help and support of the locals in Sasabe and serves as a community center for those in the town as well.

Resource Center Services

  • Open every day, the Casa de la Esperanza resource center provides daily hot meals, hot shower, change of clothes, hygiene products, immediate medical attention, and pop-up clinics (a medical team is present 3x a month).

In addition, we provide liaison services with other amazing organizations that support those looking for legal advice, immigration policy advice and connecting with other shelters.

  • We support those who pass through our center with resources such as getting in touch with family members letting them know the status of how they are and transportation support such as bus tickets if the individual is choosing to return to their hometown/country.

Background

In the middle of September of 2020, Salvavision with several other organizations (Green Valley/ Tucson Samaritans, No More Deaths, Casas Alitas, Humane Borders, and private donors) delivered 700 bags of fruit cups, protein bars, chicken sandwiches, and water bottles weekly.

At the beginning of the Pandemic, Border Patrol deported as many 700 migrants and asylum seekers to the border town of Sasabe, Sonora weekly, where these individuals/families are left with no resources. We continue to commit to ensure that those displaced here have the aid to live another day and survive the colder months and the heat of the summer.
